On Sept. 12th Vertigo Records had a huge party with free bands and free beer. All had a great time. One thing people may not know about this event is that local band, SKELETON PARTY, played what was most likely their last show. It was most certainly the last show for some time since Colin singer/guitar player moved to the northwest. Not sure how many people got to see this band while they existed but if you missed out you really missed out. To me this band was what punk stands for: sloppy/crazy and fucked up in all sorts of different ways. SKELETON PARTY did not fit in anywhere. They either were too out of tune or too sloppy for anybody to really get it. I would like to see myself as one of the people who could get it… well at least I tried.  SKELETON PARTY does not have a long history, and to my knowledge they were very short lived. When they played they tore it up and gave it 150% all the time. The best part is you could see people cringe when Colin would fall over and just start destroying his guitar and making total racket or at the dude playing keyboards with this little amp and making this fucked up noise. You see some bands need to use certain amps to try and emulate a sound, but not this band they would plug into anything. I will miss this band greatly and true fans of Grand Rapids punk feel the same. These guys never cared they just wanted to play. Thanks to Colin and the rest of the band for some killer shows and showing me the great side of BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN whom they covered at the last show. This band goes down in history, and we hope they return someday. Thanks SKELETON PARTY.
