~!!!RoT n’ RoLL!!!~

GRIND NOISE ASSAULT EDITION

An evening of puny Earth realm shattering jamz from the heaviest of the heavy and the strangest of the strange. Blistering electronics, blast beats, tortured vocals, estranged guitars, broken tape decks and odd loops collide. Soundtrack to the end times. Or new beginnings? (Not that crappy GR breakfast chain either) ONE NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

THE OILY MENACE = WHARE TO BEGIN!? One of my favorite bands – with some of my most favorite dudes. Have you ever seen that part of Pet Sematary where the little kid walks into a semi truck? Ever wonder what that would sound\feel like? – well good – because it’s this band. Take one part ferocious OG Napalm Death\Heresy and combine it with new school speed and serious riffage along with some covers of folk songs and some of the raddest things to say about Kale and neighborly love and it becomes the perfect oily recipe ♥ Download their demo’s via their blog NOW and buy their three-way split with Cloud Rat and Wolbachia @ the show or via the amazing ifbrecords.com

COMPROMISED POSITION = From the ashes of the genre defying, heart wrenching power electronics project Black Bloc (R.I.P.), comes a completely different beast. Confrontational, face crushing electronics unlike any before or after. Brutal vocals and unbelievably heavy focused throbs. First time playing Michigan. Support. For fans of Survival Unit, Disgust, Nyodene D, the apocalypse, end of human civilization..etc.

http://www.facebook.com/compromisedposition?v=info&sk=info

SICK LLAMA = Nothing’s clean. Everything’s wrong. Totally uncomfortable. Total decay. The soundtrack of an age old half flooded Michigan basement rat party. That smell of when you first open Grandma’s untouched pre-civil war era cellar. Ancient, prehistoric broken guitars, modified organs and badly wired tape decks malfunction into a lonely, enveloping blanket of filth. Support Fag Tapes. Get weird.

THE BODY AND THE WHIP (!!!FIRST SHOW!!!) = Rumored only to be painful, wretched power electronics in the purest form. Unknown sounds and vocals. Said to be a’la Whitehouse, NON etc. Classical audio violence destruction. DO NOT MISS

COOL ZINE IDEA

January 25th, 2012 by Ryan | 1 Comment »

A friend of mine just sent this email around. It sounds like a cool idea for all you crazy fucking punk rockers. We have to be nuts to listen to the music we do! Any way this guy is an old trusted friend and I can assure you this zine will come out! So if you got a story this is the time to tell it. He has been doing this zine for about 15 years!

“You’re Crazy” Fanzine contact-upheaval.fanzine@gmail.com
Dear Friends and Peers,

I am putting together a fanzine about punk rockers and mental illness/dual diagnosis. “You’re Crazy” is the title of this fanzine which features first hand, personal accounts of punk rockers living with mental illness/dual diagnosis. You’re Crazy fanzine’s goal is to destroy the stigma that we face in society (and the scene) by owning who we are, using our real names (or known nicknames) and coming out publicly, in solidarity with each other, about our struggles and experiences. Punk rockers are the misfits of society and those of us who struggle with mental illness and addictions often live isolated and alienated lives, misunderstood and alone. This must end and it ends now, with your contribution of your personal story of living with mental illness/dual diagnosis. I am asking you to share how you face the world on a daily basis, to talk about your struggles and successes and how you cope and hopefully share about your recovery from mental illness and addictions and/or your desire to get healthy and live life in the best way possible. We can support each other and we can build a network of solidarity and support and no longer do we have to stand in the corner or in the shadows. This is your opportunity to speak up and be heard. Please consider contributing to You’re Crazy fanzine.

• Regarding what specifically to write about: Write about your life experiences with mental illness and addictions, about the stigma and judgment you have faced, how your family has treated you, about your experiences with/within the punk scene dealing with mental illness and addictions, about your daily struggles and suffering, about your successes and accomplishments despite the challenges you face/have faced, about relationships/friendships, legal/police issues, poverty, housing, medication, tragedies, losses, pain, institutionalization ,rehab, positive treatment, effective help, about your dreams and desires and your recovery.

• This is an opportunity to tell your story.

• Not every story is going to be one of complete success or recovery however perhaps if we can build solidarity and increase our sense of empowerment; we can live happier and healthier lives.

• Please write up to 2000 words typed.

INSANE!

December 14th, 2011 by Ryan | 4 Comments »

One things i always find crazy in Punk and hardcore is how U.S. based it is. Just like everything else we think it starts and ends with us. Below is a little news article I took from www.maximumrocknroll.com They just reported this insane happening please read below. Punk is still threat in the U.S. and still being discovered all over the world. It’s protest music it’s a threat to the mainstream and always will be.

MRR.com is currently working on getting a report from closer to the scene. In the meantime, please sign this petition to have the punx released, and read the story from Australia’s ABC News here:

Indonesian sharia police are “morally rehabilitating” more than 60 young punk rock fans in Aceh province on Sumatra island, saying the youths are tarnishing the province’s image.

Since being arrested at a punk rock concert in the provincial capital Banda Aceh on Saturday night, 59 male and five female punk rock fans have been forced to have their hair cut, bathe in a lake, change clothes and pray.

“We feared that the Islamic sharia law implemented in this province will be tainted by their activities,” Banda Aceh deputy mayor Illiza Sa’aduddin Djamal, who ordered the arrests, said.

“We hope that by sending them to rehabilitation they will eventually repent.”

Hundreds of Indonesian punk fans came from around the country to attend the concert, organised to raise money for orphans.

Police stormed the venue and arrested fans sporting mohawks, tattoos, tight jeans and chains, who were on Tuesday taken to a nearby town to undergo a 10-day moral rehabilitation camp run by police.

A girl cried as women in headscarves cut her long unruly hair into a short bob, and some of the men groaned as their heads were shaved.

“Why did they arrest us? They haven’t given us any reason,” said Fauzal, 20.

“We didn’t steal anything, we weren’t bothering anyone. It’s our right to go to a concert.”

A 22-year-old man from Medan city who did not want to be named said he feared he would lose his job for staying at the camp for 10 days.

“I’ve just started with a bank in Medan. I don’t even know what to tell them because I don’t know why I’ve been arrested.”

Police said the objective was to deter the youths from “deviant” behaviour.

“They never showered, they lived on the street, never performed religious prayers,” said Aceh police chief Iskandar Hasan.

“We need to fix them so they will behave properly and morally. They need harsh treatment to change their mental behaviour.”

A local rights activist, Evi Narti Zain, said the arrests breached human rights.

“What the police have done is totally bizarre. Being a punk is just a lifestyle. They exist all over the world and they don’t break any rules or harm other people,” she said.

Mr Hasan denied the accusation, claiming the rehabilitation program was merely an “orientation into normal Indonesian society”.

Aceh, on the northern-most tip of Sumatra island, adopted partial sharia law in 2001 as part of a special autonomy package aimed at quelling separatist sentiment.

Only Muslims can be charged under sharia law, although the non-Muslim community is expected to follow some laws out of respect.

Nearly 90 per cent of Indonesia’s 240 million people are Muslims, but the vast majority practise a moderate form of Islam.
