Over the years living in GR I have noticed a huge lack of people taking photo’s at shows. I bought a pretty nice camera and over the past year i have been learning the ropes with it. As of late another person has taken time to take some killer pics. Here are a couple awesome pics that Stephaine Kiewiet has been taking of local bands. I would expect lots more from her. I have been out of town and not doing alot of news updates. I just got a stack of some new show fliers. Some really cool stuff coming up thats for sure. Trent from A SPAN has been making some cool posters for some great gigs at THE CAGE. I think as spring rolls in and summer gets closer we are going to see some great things happening all around west MI. SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT!
March columns have been posted… sorry for the delay. I have no real excuse except that it’s been nice out and I have not felt like sitting in front of a computer. There are some really good ones this month to check out, and also there are a fuck ton of good shows coming up. I guess March isn’t looking so bad after all.

Punk and skating go hand and hand. Check out this super rad skate video from Uganda. Some of these tricks are some the coolest i have seen in some time. To me this is what skating is all about fun!
Two new records have hit the streets in the past couple weeks. First a repress of the classic WELCOME TO 1984 comp. This was put out out by MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL back in the day. This comp is not dated at all. Each song is a political In your face HC punk hit. Each band has a hard hitting song with strong fuck you lyrics to a system of oppression. This record does not only represent a time in this worlds political history, but also represents the state of the world today. This record is 26 years old and so little has changed and so much still needs to happen. This record is 100% hardcore and is a a must for anybody who loves this movement. This comp has 23 bands from 17 countries. This will take you on a nice trip around the world of Political HC punk. Some of the bands on this comp are CRUCIFUCKS/U.B.R./RAW POWER/INFERNO and many many more. My favorite track on this is from band called DEPRESSION from Australia. I need more by this band this song makes me lose my mind. At work yesterday all i did was think about getting home and hearing this song again. Ok so how to get a copy well www.maximumrocknroll.com or contact your local record store and have them get many copies so you can make all your friends get one also. STATE are back with another 7″. This time this give us 4 new tracks of more of the same pissed HC punk. This record has a new song called DROPOUT that is one of my favorite STATE songs to date. I can say enough about this classic band. They rule and you should pick this new record up asap. I am doing distro for this record so if you want a copy just contact this site. They are 5 bucks ppd. For those who live in Grand Rapids the STATE are playing on the 20th of march at the Cage so dont miss out.
Just went to another killer show at THE CAGE on monday. I have to say this space is breathing new life into this scene. I have not been this stoked on GR in a long time. I have to say I have been keeping my head up but all along I was thinking this shit sucks. Trent from ATTENTION SPAN is going out of his way to make a show almost every weekend. I understand we all cant make it all the time, but please if you have not gone yet go and give idea’s of ways get can make it better I am sure he will listen to you. I just want to share some rad pics from monday so you can see the amount of kids in this place. Also this friday at THE CAGE MOUNTAIN GOAT/MANIFESTOS and FINANCIALLY RAPED and its 3 fucking bucks so just go. Really if your into punk and you dont have to work and live in GR what the fuck else do you really have to do?
This show is top notch all the bands rule. DEATHRATS from DC are awesome HC punk. If anbody enjoys other awesome DC bands like SICK FIX or COKE BUST then this is a must!
This weekend 17 bands recorded one song each at the SUICIDE HOUSE in Grand Rapids. It was a killer time. Every band played awesome and provided a killer track. Each band had a one minute to do their thing it was awesome. We hope that National record store day will be the day for this record to come out April 17th. This will be a one sided 12″ record with a screen printed B side. This will be the final release for PUNKS BEFORE PROFITS RECORDS #48. After a 11 years and 48 records they are hanging it up.
